How would I spell my name is Italian?
My name is Dariana( Dare-e-ahh-na) OR (Dairy-ahna). I think that's close to the sound of my name, I think it may also be sounded like (dairy-ana) but the ending -ana does not sound like 'Ann' like in 'Ann Hathaway'. It makes like a spanish person's name of 'ana' (ahna).
I know that that each letter in the italian alphabet has a different sound than english alphabet . So would I spell it the same way?
How would I spell my name is Italian?
nothing would change.
Your name is easy to convert to italian.
Some letters sound different, and some don't exist (h,j,k,w,y) but the ones in your name sound how they would and work remarkably well.
Reply:Your name is fine spelled " Dariana", but an Italian would pronounce the name dahr-ee-AH-na. So, not like "dare" or "dairy" but more like "dar."
The A always sounds like the A in fAther, NOT the A in cAt or About
The E usually sounds like the E in bEd
The I always sounds like the I in machIne
The O usually sounds like the O in pOst
The U always sounds like the OO in cOOl
Hope that helps!
edit: For Graham H: in American English, the name "Anne" is pronounced ænn. I'm assuming that the asker is American. :-)
Reply:Da -ree -ana I would pronounce it like. it sounds like a nice name. Italian names are always very nice. I don't like the Dairy-ahna. Dare-e-ahh-na sounds fine. If I didn't know I would have pronounded it as I spelled it out at first. I like Italian and French and English names a lot.
I looked up how it would be pronounced Dare ee ah nah I am sure in Italy it would be pronounced the same
http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com...
I personally would spell it Da-re -ana. Definitely don't spell it Dairy-ahna Dairy are all milk products in English.. xxx
Reply:It would be spelt Dariana. Your name is spelt the same way whatever language you are speaking or writing.
I am puzzled at your statement about the pronunciation of Anne/Ana. Where I come from (England) Anne is one word that DOES have the same A sound as the Spanish sound.
Reply:You'd spell it the same. The only difference would be that Italians pronounce their "r"s as a trill and not like the English "r".
Reply:It would stay stay the same, but the "r" in your name would be used differently though when your name is being pronounced.

Italian Christmas cake, layered, name please?
Torta Claudia: An Italian Layer Cake
A creamy layer cake laced with brandy or whatever you prefer.
Dolce alla Napoletana
An elegant Neapolitan layer cake you can fill with either cream or fruit preserves.
I believe its the first one that you may be thinking of

Reply:Can it be a zuccotto?
My mom makes it with different ingredients (hers is based on coffee), but I'm pretty positive the name depends on the shape (that of a bowl upside-down) rather than what it's made with.
Edit: here's what a zuccotto looks like: http://i.timeinc.net/realsimple/images/r...
Reply:Certosino does not have cream in it.

But then everyone has their own recipe...
Zuppa inglese is neither for christmas nor a cake but might be what you are looking for..
