I have a kind of difficult to pronounce last name. I'm setting up a domain for my professional services, post university, and not sure if I should keep my name professionally. If I were to use my mothers maiden name, it would be Bale. What do you think of that last name? Is it strong? Or too simple? Should I keep my difficult surname professionally?

Stay with the italian one. It's unique. Make sure you have business cards though so people know how to spell it.
Google the word 'bale' and you have millions of hits.
