Can Baroody be an italian name?

There's only one way for you to learn where your own ancestors' origins are - research them back each generation over time, history and geography.

Can Baroody be an italian name?
i'm inclined to think Lebanese. I noticed Rootsweb has some family trees for Baroody. You might look at them. Now information in family trees on any website must be taken as clues not as fact as most is not documented. Even if you see the same information over and over by different submitters a lot of copying is being done.
Reply:Just looking at the letters themselves, we know that there is no "y" in the Italian alphabet. So, the chances of it being Italian are very small unless the name came from somwhere else and the "y" survived. That would be rare.

Come to think of it, don't think I've seen a double "o" before either....
Reply:I would suggest asking this on the Baroody genealogy message boards at:

http://genforum.genealogy.com/baroody/

and

http://boards.ancestry.com/surnames.baro...

On these boards, I read some of the posts and it seems like most of the focus is Lebanon, not Italy.

Good luck,

Dave
