Need help finding original Italian last name?

My family name is "Carrello". This is the shortened version that was given to my great-grandfather when he immigrated to the United States from Italy. My father can say the original but not very well and is not even sure if it is right. Our butcher can say it perfectly but unfortunately is away on vacation.

Need help finding original Italian last name?
It is really difficult to establish, because Carrello is a common last name.

Check out this site www.ellisisland.org you can search and view the original manifest showing your great grandfather data from when he came to the states.

Ciao
Reply:well, "carrello" is actually a real and common word which means trolley (as the shopping trolley) but it's a last name itself here in italy as well. i cant think any of other versions of this surname...but maybe Carrettiere could it be?

ok i got some other names as: Carrollo, Carriero, Carratelli, Carrarini, Carraccio, Carrozzi ...XD hope yours is one of them otherwise i cant help u more sorry
Reply:Use a digital voice recorder to record your great-grandfather's voice and post the file on a file-sharing website, and put a link in your question. So maybe I (or someone else) will be able to answer it.
