My Grand Father fought in the war and I'm looking for proof.
I'm searching for the name of a Italian soldier who fought during WWII. How can I do That??
If you know the city where he was from, you could eventually try to contact the military office (centro documentale) where the draft records (Registro di Leva) are kept, and ask for a copy of his discharge papers.
Bear in mind that the registers are ordered by "classe di leva", that is the year in which your grandpa was drafted. Also when you write them, specify whether your grandfather served in the Army, Navy or Air Force.
For a list of the "centro documentale" offices, check the website listed in the sources.
Reply:Did he fight for Italy, or for the US?
US military records are available on Ancestry.com, I'm not finding Italian military records in the card catalog on that site but would be willing to look up a name for you.
Reply:If your Grandfather was an Italian soldier perhaps this website may help you.

Reply:If he was a soldier for the US, you could try looking up the NARA website in your web browser and try to request his records.
Reply:army records or war memorials should keep that info
